My Why! Amber Hollis Shares Her Passion for Care

Amber Hollis, diagnostic medical sonographer at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, shares why she chose to work for Trinity Health Michigan and how it fuels her passion to care for others. 

“I love working with people; I’ve worked for Trinity Health for more than 25 years,” said Amber. 

Amber has appreciated Trinity Health’s support for her education pursuit. As her skill set expanded, so did her role and responsibilities. Amber’s career grew with her education.

“I began my career here as a unit assistant in the Emergency Department, while finishing up my bachelor's degree at Eastern Michigan University,” Amber said. “Then, I went to Jackson College for Ultrasonography. I was able to do my clinical rotation for ultrasound — right here in this department. After getting hired, I never left. I believe that speaks volumes.”

“The management in our department and my co-workers embody the core values of this organization and we have always been like a family,” said Amber. “When you’re in a healthy place within your work environment — especially within health care — you can perform and operate much better. Healthy support like this allows you to be fully present, while you take care of others.”  

Amber’s passion to take care of others is fueled by her work. She sees the life-saving  connection between herself and her patients. She knows she is making a difference.

“I love that my job, in imaging, is finding out what could be the cause of someone's discomfort and being able to aid the radiologist in making a diagnosis for the patient's physician, in order to help the patient,” said Amber. “Many times, my role here and my images have been instrumental in the care and health of people in life and death circumstances. 

“I have learned so much over the years from the radiologists, physicians and my co-workers. I am proud to say that Trinity Health Ann Arbor has been a place where work is home.”
